Itinerary

  • Day 01 - Dubai / Haneda
     Fly Dubai / Haneda EK 312 0825/2245 - Daily (9h 20m)
    Upon arrival, check in The Royal Park Hotel THE Haneda, which is next to the terminal.
  • Day 02 - Haneda / Obihiro
     Fly Haneda /  Obihiro JL 573 0655/0830 – Daily (1h 35m)


    Upon arrivel, drive 1.5 hours to the town of Shintoku. A soba lunch is highly recommended in the town of Shintoku. 

    Continue to Visit Lake Shikaribetsu Kotan, located in Daisetsu National Park, is frozen over in winter. On the lake, a village (kotan) of igloos (Eskimo-style houses) is built.
    Optional: Why not try onsen on snow or take a peep into one of the igloos?

    Transfer to Tokachigawa Onsen and check into your hot spring hotel. After dinner, you might want to join in the Swan Festival Sairinka (late Jan – late Feb) – a unique winter event featuring light and sound shows.

  • Day 03 - Tokachi / Akan

    This morning, drive to Akan and visit the excellent Akan International Crane Center to observe the beautiful Japanese red-crested Cranes (Nov – March). You are able to watch or feed at close range and fascinated by how the eagles and crows trying to have a fair share of the food.

    Tonight, join in the Akan Frozen Lake Festival (mid Feb- mid March) - an event of winter fun, snow sculptures and fireworks!

  • Day 04 - Akan / Yoroushi

    After breakfast, drive to the scenic Lake Mashu, known as “foggy lake” - one of the most transparent lakes in the world! Proceed to Lake Akan and visit the Ainu Kotan- great variety of Hokkaido and authentic Ainu cuisines and cafes, folk art, jewellery and more.

    Continue to visit Mt Iou – an active volcano also known as the Naked Mountain.

    Transfer to Yoroushi Onsen, relax at the ryokan for the rest of the day.

  • Day 05 - Yoroushi / Shiretoko

    Drive to Rausu. Enjoy a one hour ride on The Shiretoko Nature Cruise, where you can enjoy the spectacular drift ice that brings a wealth of nutrients to the sea of Shiretoko. Steller's sea eagles, white-tailed sea eagles and seals can be seen during the winter.

    Afternoon, continue to Shiretoko Peninsula,a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Put on your wet suits and be led out onto the ice by guides. Or, if there is not much solid ice, the tour will involve more swimming than walking.

    Witness the Shiretoko Fantasia (5 Feb- 12 Mar only) from 8pm nightly – a 20 minute laser and sound-filled show case simulating the colourful aurora lights swirling in the night sky!

  • Day 06 - Shiretoko / Abashiri

    Optional: In the early morning, get a spectacular bird's-eye view of the ice drifts on Sea of Okhotsk from a hot air balloon.

    Get on the Norokko Train, a special, old train that runs along the coast so you can see the drift ice from the train (about 1 hour). 

    Arrive to the Northern Hemisphere’s Southernmost region, Abashiri. Embark on an Icebreaker Cruise (20 Jan – 31 Mar only) and witness whiteness the ice that spreads South around the Amur River.

    Note: Cruise operation subject to weather conditions, we will replace with visit to Abashiri prison and iceberg museum if not available.

    Meal: Dinner at hotel

  • Day 07 - Abashiri / Memanbetsu / Dubai

    You have your free leisure to spend on the day. In late afternoon, be picked up and drive 30 min to airport.
