    Hike off the beaten path along a trail of tastefully decorated village houses with glorious views while experiencing hospitality of the rural folks in villages where time seem to have stood still. This itinerary covers Leh and the outstanding monasteries such as Tiksey, Hemis and Stok, but the emphasis is to less accessible areas.

  • Day 01 - Dubai / Delhi
     Fly Dubai /Delhi 9W 547 2255/0355 +1  – Daily (3h 30m)

  • Day 02 - Delhi / Leh / Stok

    Connect your flight to Leh

    Fly Delhi/Leh 9W 1609 0630/0745 – Daily (1h 20m) 

    Upon arrival, be met and transferred to Shakti Village house in Stok, a Tibetan House at the edge of the village. The charming village of Stok (3650m/11 972ft) lies at the foot of the beautiful Stok Kangri Mountain. It is home to Ladakh’s royal family and their Tibetan style palace watches over the village unspoilt vernacular architecture, apricot and barley fields.

  • Day 03 - Stok

    Have another easy day. Morning, go on a gentle walk to explore Stok Village and Stok Palace. Visit the palace and the museum before continuing to your picnic lunch site.

    Then, continue to the Heritage House before walking back to your village house. Cars will be on stand-by so that any walk can be replaced by drive depending on how well you acclimatized.

  • Day 04 - Stok / Thiksey / Hemis / Leh

    Start at dawn and drive 1 hour to Thiksey to experience the early morning Buddhist prayers. Built in mid 15th century, Thiksey monastery is one of the finest examples of Ladakhi religious architectures. As part of the visit, we have arranged a private audience with the Rinpoche (head priest) of Thiksey.

    Continue to Hemis, belonging to the Red Hat sect and built in 1630, Ladakh’s largest monastery. After a picnic lunch in Matho, drive back to Stok to relax or explore the bazaar in Leh.

  • Day 05 - Stok/ Likhir

    This morning drive up to the entrance of the Zanskar canyon, to the village of Chilling to see the local metal smith at work. Walk down to the river bank for an adventurous and exciting rafting trip down the Zanskar River, through the rugged canyon and to the shores of the village of Nimoo. Here, a scrumptious picnic lunch will be laid out for you. Later, drive to your next village house in Likhir.

  • Day 06 - Likhir / Alchi / Saspol / Likhir

    This morning, take a leisurely walk through the picturesque village. Visit the Likhir monastery(11,483ft) which has a school, and the young monks will be thrilled to have you over for a cup of tea.

    Later take a 1 ½ hour drive to Alchi(10233ft), the only monastery in Ladakh built on flat ground hilltops. Alchi is particularly interesting for its Indian and Kashmiri influences.

    Drive 20 mins and enjoy a picnic lunch at Saspol, home to neglected, yet beautifully painted caves. Return to the village house.

  • Day 06 - Likhir/Shey

    Start early and visit the Himalayan Capital of Leh, about 1 ½ hour away. The Bazaar offers a plethora of colourful and interesting souvenirs which you can shop around for. Visit the newly restored Leh Palace which now houses a small museum. A short walk away is the glorious Shanti Stupa, a relatively new structure and a symbol of peace.

    Have lunch at a traditional Ladakhi restaurant in town, after which drive a short distance to your next village house in Shey.

  • Day 07 - Shey

    You have many options this day. Visit the famous Pangong Lake which is 134 km long and extends from India to Tibet. The stunning lake is reached by a dramatic and rough mountain road. Or choose to take a full day’s hike to the base camp of Stok Kangri, the highest mountain in Ladakh.

    For those in the mood to take it easy, we recommend a walk around the interesting village of Shey where you can chat with local people and experience the daily life. You may like to visit the ancient Shey Palace with its Gompaand a 39 feet tall copper statue ofShakyamuni Buddha.

    Shyok River Journey – Go along the Old Silk Route into the remote Nubra valley. An exciting combination of rafting and driving takes you into this fascinating region, where you spend 2 nights in a special tented camp in a remote location.
  • Day 08 - Shey / Leh / Delhi / Dubai

    This morning, be driven to Leh Airport in time to check-in for your return flight to Delhi.
