  • Day 00/01 - Singapore/ Istanbul / Sanliurfa
    Fly Dubai / Istanbul TK 759 0520/0930 (5h 10m) – Daily
      Istanbul / Sanliurfa TK 7316 1130/1320 (1h 50m) – Daily 


    Upon arrival in Sanliurfa (Urfa), drive to Harran, famous for its “beehive” adobe houses said to be unchanged for at least 3,000 years.

    Visit Urfa’s atmospheric bazaar (Mon-Sat), and the historic Golbasi area with its picturesque ponds and gardens, before transferring to your hotel for check-in.

  • Day 02 - Sanliurfa / Gobekli Tepe / Nermut Dagi / Adiyaman

    Visit Gobekli Tepe, built approximately 7,000 years with the world’s oldest-known temple. Next head to fallen heads of Nemrut Dagi, the work of pre-Roman King Antiochus and enjoy sunset there before returning to your hotel in Adiyaman.

  • Day 03 - Adiyaman / Nermut Dagi / Diyarbakir

    Head to Nemrut Dagi again, but this time for the sunrise, do bring warm clothes as it will be cold and windy!

    After breakfast back at the hotel, drive to the walled city of Diyarbakir, and widely regarded as the capital of the Kurdish people.

  • Day 04 - Diyarbakir / Mardin

    This morning, visit Diyarbakir, the city walls and gates of Diyarbakir are said to be second in extent only to the Great Wall of China. Also, visit the Grand Mosque, the Church of St. Mary and the St. Giragos Armenian Church, largest of its kind in the Middle East.

    Next, drive on to Mardin, an old town city of honey-colored, sandstone buildings perched on the southern slope of a hill.

  • Day 05 - Mardin

    Today, visit the ancient Roman ruins of Dara, where Mesopotamia’s first dam and irrigation canals were built.

    En route back to Mardin, visit Deyrul Zafaran Monastery, once the seat of the Syrian Orthodox patriarchate, and built on the site of a temple dedicated to the sun.

    Have the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy Mardin or Midyat at your own leisure. Whilst Mardin owes its architecture to Arabic influences, Midyat makes for a great base to explore ancient Kurdish and Syriac heritage.

  • Day 06 - Mardin / Hasankeyf / Van

    Setting off from Mardin, drive to Hasankeyf that will soon be submerged underwater with the completion of the new Ilisu Dam project (estimated mid-2015 onwards). Enjoy a private boat tour (max. 2h) of the submerged village.

    Continue on to Van (approx. 6h drive), and check-in to your hotel.

  • Day 07 - Van

    Today, visit the Monastery of St. Thomas of Gandzak, in Altinsac village, an Armenian church perched on a mound overlooking the lake. Next, stopping at Gevas Cemetery before driving backs to Van

    The highlight of today is the spectacular 10th century Armenian Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Akdamar Island. One may recognize the relief carvings, still in very good condition, from various popular biblical stories ranging from Adam & Eve, to David & Goliath.

  • Day 08 - Van

    Visit Hosap Castle, built on a rocky outcrop, by a local Kurdish chieftain. Next, visit the Urartian fortress ruins of Cavustepe. End the day at Van Fortress, with its 3,000 year-old citadel, and watch the sun go down over Lake Van.

  • Day 09 - Van / Muradiye Falls / Dogubeyazit / Kars

    Leaving Van to Dogubeyazit, en route stopping at Muradiye Falls where much of waterfalls come from snow melt. Next, visit Ishak Pasha Palace ruins which built in the 17th century, one of the most magnificent and lavish examples of Ottoman architecture. Drive to Kars and check-in for the next 2 nights.

  • Day 10 - Kars / Ani / Kars

    Drive to the eerily-stunning medieval ruins of Ani, the “City of 1,001 Churches”, surrounded by remote landscape near the border with Armenia. At its peak, Ani served as the capital of the Armenian empire under the Bagratid dynasty.

    Return to Kars and have the rest of the day at leisure.

  • Day 11 - Kars / Savsat

    From Kars, drive to Savsat, in the spectacular Georgian Valleys of Turkey. Just 20km north of Savsat village lies a petite black lake, the focal point of Savsat Meseli Karagol National Park.. Go on a short boat ride (private basis) on the pine-fringed alpine lake of Meseli Karagol, then enjoy a picnic lunch and Georgian wine by the lake. Spend the night here

  • Day 12 - Savsat / Trabzon

    Drive through the lush northern Kackars to Trabzon, stopping at picturesque villages in Camlihemsin and Firtina Valley with its Ottoman humpback bridges.

    Drive to Barhal (approx. 3h30m), your base in the Kackars.

    Check-in to your pension (basic accommodation) for the next 2 nights.

    From Barhal, visit the 1,150 year-old Georgian Parhali Monastery church and its associated chapels, before beginning your hike.

    Hiking Difficulty: Medium
    Hiking Duration: 2-3h

    This hike takes you to Doles, along the way looking out for beekeepers and old houses of Doles. Return the same way, to Barhal.

    Hiking Duration: 5h30m

    Look out for bears and their scratching-posts, along with views over the Barhal valley and village houses. This hike takes you to a group of 3 villages – Sabangil, Koseler, and Borekli – before returning to Barhal.

    Drive to Trabzon (approx. 4.5h).

  • Day 13 - Trabzon / Istanbul / Dubai

    Visit the famous Greek Orthodox Sumela Monastery, nestled in a steep and rocky cliff in the 6th century, and abandoned in 1923.

    Have the rest of the day at leisure before transferring to the airport for flight back to Istanbul.

    Arrive back in Dubai on Day 14 Morning.
