Itinerary

  • Day 01 - Dubai/ Mandalay
    Fly Dubai/Yangon EK 388 0250/1100 (5h 40m) - Daily

     

    Upon arrival, be escorted to the domestic terminal and check in your domestic flight to Mandalay.

    Embark on a city tour of Mandalay including Kuthodaw PagodaShwenandaw Monastery and Mahamuni Pagoda. Pass the lively Yadanabon market and numerous gold leaf hammering workshops. 

    Optional: Mandalay Night by motorbike
    Once the steamy heat of the day has somewhat abated, hop onto your motorbike (with experienced driver) and zip around the colorful streets of the city. Start a lively local market before refuelling at a legendary venue for crispy duck. A lively exploration of Chinatown before observing a unique performance and the night ends at one of the city's best beer stations where unplugged music and plentiful refreshment is available.

  • Day 02 -Mandalay

    A short cruise upstream, arrive at Mingun to witness the Mingun Bell, said to be the largest un-cracked bell in the world.

    Continue cruising to Saigaing, a former royal capital and important monastic center. Travel by tuk tuk to visit the monastery before enjoying lunch on the boat while we continue cruising downstream to Ava. Tour the ancient temple ruins by horse cart.

    As the day wanes, we arrive at Amarapura and visit Mahagandayon Monastery before walking on U Bein Bridge, world’s longest teak bridge.

  • Day 03 - Mandalay / Bagan

    Visit the ruins of Paleik and the snake temple before transfer to the airport for your flight to Bagan. 

    Spend the day touring the Bagan Temples. Climb atop a pagoda and take in the fantastic view of the plains dotted with temples and pagodas. Tour the temples including the few popular ones such as Gubyaukgyi Temple for its frescoes, Ananda Temple, rated by many as the most beautiful and the uncompleted Dhammayangyi stupa. Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the temples! As the day wanes we take a horse cart ride through village and temples before reaching a quiet spot for a dramatic sunset over Bagan!

  • Day 04 - Bagan

    Option 1: At sunrise, enjoy a sensational hot air balloon ride over the Ayeyarwady plain and thousands of temples! (Operates Oct – Mar only and advance booking is strongly recommended)

    Option 2: Catch the magical sunrise on top of a temple before taking a tour of the temples, when it is least crowded. Enjoy a picnic breakfast with lovely views of the temple and river before stopping by the local traditional market at its busiest. 

    This morning, hop on your 4x4 jeep and head out to the countryside, visiting the local villages and their home industries. See the blacksmith working on an ox wheel, earthen-ware pottery, palm sugar production and the traditional way of cooking oil and farmers working on the fields.

    In the late evening, take a boat ride down Ayeyarwady River for a different view of Bagan and enjoy a sundowner on a sandbank (if water level permits).  For the active, ride an E-Bike or mountain bike through the temples to the pier before boarding.

  • Day 05 - Bagan /Inle Lake

    Transfer to the airport for your flight.

    Arrive Heho airport and drive about an hour to Nyaung Shwe, the gateway to Inle Lake. Make a stop at the ancient Shwe Yan Pyay monastery, an interesting teak monastery famous for its oval windows and richly decorated mosaics walls. Enjoy a Shan lunch with view of the mountain and river before you begin your boat ride on the lake. Be welcomed by a local Intha family living on stilts and navigate through strips of their floating vegetable farms - “land” if you wish!

  • Day 06 - Inle Lake

    Enjoy a full day boating around the lake, including the rotating five-day marketsIntha fisherman rowing in the one-legged style. We will also visit the Phaungdaw U Pagoda, local cheroot factory (Burmese cigar), Intha Heritage House where the Burmese cats are bred and a weaving factory. Then, cruise through the creeks to arrive at the “forest pagodas” at Indein, home to several Pa O villages. Take a short hike if you wish.

    For the active, replace the full day boating with a Hop On-Hop off Biking and Boating optionExplore Indien village, bike through villages and plantations, have a chat with monks and visit local homes. Cycle and boat around the lake visiting the prominent sights yet bringing you away from the tourists trail.

    As the day wanes, catch another beautiful sunset over the lake with a refreshing drink and snacks.

  • Day 07 - Inle Lake/Yangon

    Boat and drive to Heho airport for your flight to Yangon.

    Enjoy an introductory tour of Yangon. Take a short joy ride on the circular train, rubbing shoulders with the locals before getting off at Scott market. Stroll pass the U Thant Mausoleum and colonial mansion and enjoy a refreshing drink ata local teashop. Arrive Shwedagon Pagoda before sunset to witness the massive emerald reflecting the last rays of sun and stay until the pagoda illuminates and devotes arrive to say their prayers.

  • Day 08 - Yangon / Dubai
    Optional: Yangon in the early Morning-Markets, Monks and Mohinga
    Rise early and visit the vibrant fish and fruit market. Enjoy a Burmese mohinga breakfast with the locals and see the monks gathering their alms. 

     

    Enjoy a heritage walk with your specialist guide, visiting Old Rangoon before it is lost. Explore the rich architecture of Yangon, walk past alleys, markets and temples and immerse yourself in the local way of life.
